Rat control in Kitchener

Rats are a different problem from mice and need a different response. They are large enough to gnaw through soft concrete and lead, they burrow rather than simply nesting in cavities, and they are cautious enough about new objects that a hastily set trap tells you very little. Kitchener neighbourhoods and what drives rat pressure

Rat activity is rarely random. In Kitchener the pattern tends to follow the built environment:

Signs it is rats and not mice

• Droppings 12–18mm with blunt ends, not 3–6mm and pointed
• Audible thumping or dragging rather than light scratching
• Smooth burrow openings 50–90mm wide under sheds, decks or against foundations
• Dark greasy smears along skirtings, joists and pipe runs
• Heavy gnaw damage to hard materials rather than fine shallow marks

What we do

We inspect inside and out, including the perimeter at ground level, to confirm the species, gauge the scale and — most importantly — find how they are getting in. Treatment goes along established runs, in tamper-resistant stations wherever there are children or pets.

Then we seal. This is the step that decides whether the problem is over or merely paused. Rats chew straight back through expanding foam, so entry points need proper materials. Baiting without exclusion means a new population in the same void within weeks.

We return to confirm activity has actually stopped. Two or three visits is typical for a rat job.
